In cooperation with the
International Atomic Energy Agency

The 1st International Youth Conference (IYC) on Fusion Energy will be held on 9 and 10 October 2010 at the Daejeon Convention Centre in the Republic of Korea. This year, the IAEA Fusion Energy Conference (FEC) will celebrate its opening of the second half century. To pay a tribute to fusion research history, the 1st International Youth Conference on Fusion Energy will be held in conjunction with the 23rd IAEA FEC.

The IAEA FEC is one of the highly renowned events of the IAEA that is attended by prominent scholars in the field of fusion research. Over the decades, the bi-annual event has offered a remarkable environment with the presence of many distinguished scholars. However, as it has been a great challenge for young scientists and engineers to participate in the IAEA FEC, it is intended that the IYC will provide a link to the FEC, in order to make the field of fusion energy research more accessible to young researchers and students.

This Youth Conference will offer the great opportunity for the young generation to interact directly with internationally recognized experts in fusion research and global opinion leaders in the green energy field. The conference is being organized around the broad theme of ¡°Future Vision, Fusion and Green Energy.¡± It aims to be a platform where young researchers in the fusion research community will exchange their ideas and share their vision to advance fusion theory, experiments, technology and engineering. As the IYC is open to all young scientists and engineers active in this field and with the aim that experienced scientists transfer their knowledge to the younger generation, it is intended that this conference should have a refreshing atmosphere. Moreover, selected authors will have the privilege of attending the opening session and sessions relevant to their area of study of the 23rd IAEA FEC.

Another event, namely the Green Forum, is being organized during the IYC. It is intended that the Green Forum shares the ideas of world recognized VIPs (including Nobel Laureates, representatives from International Organizations, political leaders and government officials etc.) on the development of ¡°Environment and Knowledge-based Energy of the 21st century¡± in a round table session. The VIPs will also address the IYC. In addition, some selected IYC authors will have the opportunity to present their paper to these prominent speakers of the Green Forum.
